Writing Task 2

Scroll down for lessons which provide all the information you need to do well in Writing Task 2. They are ideal for self-study, or for teachers to use in class.

It is recommend that you spend 40 minutes on this task, and it counts for two-thirds of your writing score.  You should write over 250 words.

There are  five questions types: opinion, problems and solutions, discussion, advantages/disadvantages, and direct. I provide writing frames for each question type (below).

A common problem that students face is not knowing enough about different subjects. To help you, I have provided 20 topic sheets that break down the main ideas of a host of common subjects (below).

I have also provided a short course on writing skills, and a list of practice questions.
